Chemical Peeling 101

This course covers chemical peel fundamentals including what a chemical peel is, why peels should be a staple in your backbar, how different types of acid blends, percentages and pH levels work within the skin, which indications and contraindications you should watch out for when treating patients, and post peel care. You’ll get a step-by-step demonstration of how to apply chemical peels safely and effectively, and tips for how to communicate with your patient throughout the treatment. This course is compromised into four modules: Introduction to Chemical Peeling: Get to know why chemical peels are a staple of your backbar, how they work within the layers of the skin to smooth skin texture and enhance cell turnover, and best practices for preparation, indications and contraindications, and precautions for using chemical peels safely and effectively. Types of Peeling Agents: Dive into the different types of topical acids: Alpha Hydroxy acids (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA), Jessner Solutions, Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and Phenol, the benefits, indications, and contraindications of each acid. Post Treatment Considerations: Learn the unique post-treatment considerations you should follow after a chemical peel, including potential complications and recommended instructions for post peel care. Demonstration & Course Summary: Receive a step-by-step chemical peel demonstration performed by Danae Marklane, LE CMLT, on preparation, treatment protocols, post peel considerations, and client care.
