Epigenetics
Epigenetics focuses on the changes in skin cells caused by modifications in our DNA expressions and is the link between our genetics and the environment. Hosted by Danae Markland, LE, CMLT, this course covers the latest research on epigenetics and how this science gives us a deeper understanding of skin conditions, and how it can be used to not only improve the appearance of but also repair underlying skin damage. This course is comprised of six modules:
Introduction to Epigenetics: Learn about the study of epigenetics, how it can be used to improve the way our DNA functions and its impact on skin health science.
Epigenetic Modification: Learn how your environment and lifestyle choices can create modifications in your epigenetics, and how those changes are inherited through generations.
DNA Methylation: Receive an overview of DNA methylation and understand the negative impact it can have on the skin.
Histone Modification: Understand how epigenetic modifications to the structural support of our DNA impact our skin.
Epigenetics and Skin: Get to know which skin conditions and concerns can be inherited through epigenetic modifications.
Epigenetics and Skincare: Learn how advancements in the study of epigenetics can influence skincare formulations to optimize healthy cell function and reverse skin damage.
